Validity of a portable X-ray fluorescence device for analyzing field dust wipe samples for lead

Interior dust lead loadings on floors and windowsills are reliable predictors of a child’s blood level an important predictor in “clearance testing” residences. The portable X-ray fluorescence device is alternate technique that can provide fast, accurate, precise results regarding the presence hazards In this paper, we tested comparability against Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry, using newer hazard standards for wipe samples. Dust samples (n = 109) collected from interior 13 homes were by means subsequently analyzed Spectrometry. Considering Spectrometry as “gold standard,” produced average false negative rate 27.3% at new 10 ?g/ft2 floors, 100 windowsills. There no positive standards. A Bland Altman analysis showed 96.3% data points within lower upper acceptable limits agreement. study suggested has good agreement with method concentrations appropriate measuring field where range.
